How the job runs

Safety and utilities first. If a line is involved, nobody works until the utility confirms it is de-energised.
We photograph the scene before touching it, because that record is what supports your claim.
Emergency mitigation to stop the damage getting worse — tarping access, removing the limb that is still loaded.
Controlled extraction of the tree off the structure, rigged rather than dragged.

What drives the price

We quote on site, in writing, after walking the work with you. These are the variables that move the number:

Whether a structure is involved, which changes the method entirely
Urgency — genuine after-hours emergency response costs more than next-day
Volume of debris and how much of the property it covers
Access, which storms often make worse by blocking the drive
Whether utility coordination is required before work can start

On a Wasatch Back property

Here the storm that does the damage is usually not wind but wet snow. Dry powder weighs a few pounds per cubic foot; wet snow can exceed twenty, and a single large conifer has been measured carrying over 7,000 pounds of it. That is why failures cluster in late October, November, and March rather than mid-winter. It also matters for your claim: snow load is a covered peril under standard policy language for weight of ice, snow, or sleet — so the question that usually decides a claim is whether the tree was already a known hazard.
