Is this tree work or construction?

Both, and that is the point. Vegetation and root structure are part of the solution, but a real water problem usually needs grading or structures too. We do the vegetation side and coordinate the rest.

Will clearing trees make erosion worse?

It can, which is why thinning and drainage should be planned together. Removing a stand reduces both canopy interception and root reinforcement on the slope.

Do I need a permit near a creek?

Riparian zones carry constraints that vary by jurisdiction, and they change both what is possible and how long it takes. Raise it with us early rather than after a plan is drawn.

When is the best time to do this work?

Late summer and early autumn, when the ground is dry enough to work and you have seen a full snowmelt cycle. That gives you evidence of where water actually goes rather than where you assume it goes.

How do I know whether this is urgent?

Water moving toward a foundation is urgent. Soil loss on an open slope is usually not, but it compounds quietly for years, so it is worth putting on a plan rather than ignoring until something fails.
